Introduction

APRS allows amateur radio operators to send telemetry data such as GPS location coordinates, weather station information, and text messages. Hikers use APRS as they explore back country, Emergency Communications coordinators can use it to visualize the positions of stations, and commuters use it to track the location of their vehicles (or members of a group of vehicles that want to stay together on a longer trip.) Once you start experimenting you may find your own specialized use for APRS. It is just one of many Activities for Amateur Radio operators that you may find interesting as you explore the hobby.
